Travel agents launch special New Year tours
Local travel agencies have launched special domestic tours for overseas Vietnamese returning for the Lunar New Year festival, or Tet, which falls in mid-February this year.
The Festival and Nimbus Tourist Co is offering a six-day tour of the capital of Ha Noi where overseas Vietnamese will visit historic relics of the former Thang Long Citadel, such as Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), known as Viet Nam’s first university, Tran Quoc Pagoda and Ngoc Son Temple. Other destinations include tourist spots in the North like Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, Huong Pagoda in Ha Tay and Sa Pa resort in Lao Cai.
Festival offers a five-day tour of Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong and a six-day tour of Tuan Chau resort in Quang Ninh. The company has also launched luxurious package tours to various sites, including Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc Island. Several other leading travel agencies including Saigontourist and Ben Thanh Tourist in HCM City have launched trans-Viet tours due to last from 15 to 18 days. Saigontourist Travel Service Co said some 6,450 overseas Vietnamese have booked Tet tours through the company’s website www.dulichtet.com.
Hainan-Ha Long Bay sea route resumed
The cruise ship Oriental Pearl III docked at Hon Gai earlier this week, re-opening the Hainan (China)-Ha Long Bay sea route after two years’ suspension. Oriental Pearl III brought 470 guests to the bay, including representatives of travel agencies and the media a FAM (familiarisation) trip to the World Heritage site.
Ben Thanh offers footy fans Singapore tour
The HCM City-based Ben Thanh Tourist has launched a football watching tour which will bring fans from Viet Nam to Singapore to watch the football matches of the ASEAN Football Championship or AFF Cup. The tour will begin on January 13 with the Vietnamese team’s first match against Singapore.
Tourists will go to Batam Island where tourists will watch the match between Vietnamese and Indonesian teams. Next they will visit Mount Faber, Singapore Parliament Building, Merlion Park, Jurong Bird Park, and Sentosa Island. Before heading back home, tourists will watch the match between the Vietnamese and Lao teams. The six-day tour costs US$559 per tourist.
HCM City country club plans stylish New Year bash
HCM City Saigon Town and Country Club (STCC) will hold a massive celebration and festival for members and guests to welcome the new year, this Sunday.
The festival will revolve around a Casablanca in Morocco theme, reliving the bygone era of movies such as the French Arabian inspired Casablanca. While dancing and drinking the night away at the exclusive Country Club, patrons will also be able to partake in the highlight of the following days hangover feast, Drunken Eggs Benedictine on Monday. — VNS
