It’s time to finish up Eureka in Final Fantasy XIV, as today marks the release of the fourth and final area, Hydratos. This final area allows you to finish out the zone story, further improve your Eureka weapon, and perhaps more importantly will give you a shot at Final Fantasy XI’s legendary superboss Absolute Virtue as part of the new 56-player open dungeon available as later content. If you’re more interested in challenging other players, of course, you can take on the new Rival Wings map in the Hidden Gorge. Meanwhile, a less system-related change are the updates to the game’s prohibited activities. The short version is that GMs are now empowered to take action in a wider array of circumstances; while the goal remains set at minimal necessary interactions, a wider range of harassing activities are considered off-limits and will be dealt with accordingly. While it’s unlikely that you’ll run afoul of the new rules if you weren’t pressing the boundaries before, “not being a jerk” remains the byword.
