Epic Games and China studio Loong Entertainment today announced a new mobile game entitled Project:SU at Games Developer Conference (GDC) 2019. Scheduled to launch later this year, Project:SU is co-developed by both companies using Unreal Engine 4 and incorporates advanced technologies like global illumination, dynamic lighting, bloom, GPU particle effects and PBR rendering. These advancements greatly enhance the game’s graphic quality and approximate that of AAA PC games. Project:SU also features an open world and freedom of movement. The game will be published in China by Tencent Games. Adapted from a popular best-selling Chinese novel, Project:SU is a story about an endless war between humans, half-bloods and Dragons. Way back in the distant year of 2017 I reported on the case of Riot Games v. Shanghai Moonton Technology Co., and due to a case of poor diligence on my part, I never actually followed up on that case. The gist of the lawsuit is simple; Riot filed lawsuit in California court alleging copyright infringement by a mobile League of Legends ripoff Mobile Legends. What actually brought the lawsuit to my scope of coverage wasn’t so much that the lawsuit existed but the fact that Shanghai Moonton Tech Co. doesn’t seem to understand the concept of the free press and decided to threaten lawsuits against anyone even covering the case. To that I welcome their lawyers with open arms and an ethics complaint with the state bar association. Well the lawsuit didn’t go far. As you might expect, Moonton answered Riot’s lawsuit with a motion for dismissal as well as a motion for forum non conveniens. For those who don’t want to hit the Google machine, this is a power that the … [Read more...] about IPE Update: When Riot Sued Over A League of Legends Ripoff

I’ve recently been in the mood to play relaxing games where I can pause as often as I like. Most of all, Cities: Skylines. The major problem was that I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to buy their latest DLC “Industries” now that it’s on sale. On the other hand, if I started a new city and then decided I wanted the DLC, I would want to start another new city and my time would be wasted on the new city I’d start now. This led to not actually playing at all for quite some time yesterday despite really wanting to (in case you’re wondering: I am sick once again, so there was lots of gaming time yesterday evening). But how silly is that, really, because I know I would get the DLC sooner or later anyway. So, I quickly grabbed the DLC and decided not to further think about it, and I started my new city. I haven’t even played much around with Parklife, so there is a lot to explore for me now! Also, I get the feeling that there is also a lot to learn … [Read more...] about Screenshot Saturday: Busy building
