Have you ever wished that you could have a cybernetically enhanced dinosaur as a pet? Of course you have, and if you happen to be a Star Trek Online player, then you’re in luck, as Perfect World Entertainment has announced the return of the Breach special event. The event, which will run from October 16th until November 6th, will task Captains between levels 50 and 65 with forming groups of five with “flying a streamlined route into and out of the Voth fortress.” Players can queue for the event every 20 hours, with each successful completion earning them one Voth Operative Transmission. After accumulating 14 Voth Operative Transmissions, players can then complete “a new Event Reputation project to be rewarded with 50,000 Dilithium Ore, 500 Fleet Marks, 250 Marks of their choice, and a Bio-Engineered Furiadon Combat pet,” which is “equipped with head-mounted twin anti-proton lasers and capable of a vicious bite.” Yes, that’s right: … [Read more...] about Star Trek Online grants players cybernetic dinosaurs in latest Breach special event
Some time ago, I caught a stream about Jurassic World Evolution. I hadn’t even known this game existed until that point! I still remember the first Jurassic Park film and that I had just been old enough to watch it when it came out here. Unfortunately, I couldn’t actually see it in the cinema – I think my friend had gotten ill and I had nobody else who wanted to go see it with me. Then I bought my very own first video recorder (yes, I’m old) with my very own money and my parents kept nudging me to turn it on and try if it works – only to have Jurassic Park play as they had sneakily bought the film on video and inserted it already. :p Also, unfortunately, the video recorder was broken and turned the video to black/white at every dark scene of which there were plenty in this film. And as this wasn’t enough already, it also ate my video cassette and refused to eject it. We brought it back to the store and I got a different one as well as a new video … [Read more...] about Ooh! Forget hulking wooly mammoths, swooping dragons, and motorcycle sidecars: The most desirable World of Warcraft mount yet is coming in Battle for Azeroth — and it has a mighty hefty price tag attached. The Reins of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur may only be a ground mount, but it’s still going to be the chase item for many players. First of all, it’s a huge dinosaur, and that’s makes the inner five-year-old in all of us happy. But second, the brutosaur mount contains both an auctioneer and a merchant. That’s right: You’ll be able to summon your own auctioneer anywhere in the world. Such functionality won’t come cheap, however. The mount will cost both Alliance and Horde players 5,000,000 gold to obtain. That cost can be defrayed a bit by maxing out your reputation with certain factions, taking it from 5M to 4M if you play the patience game. Source: Wowhead. Dinosaurs are one of those wells that seem to show up in a lot of MMOs. World of Warcraft? Yes, there are whole zones dedicated to dino-antics. Neverwinter? Plenty of dinosaurs in the latest stories. Final Fantasy XIV? Lots of dinos in places where you wouldn’t expect them. Star Trek Online? Yes, we got dinosaurs on spaceships in that game. It’s dinosaurs everywhere, and for some reason none of them have feathers. That’s a bit of a sore point because dinosaurs had feathers, but then, most dinosaurs also didn’t fight people in spaceships. That we know of. Asking which game should add dinosaurs becomes a rather silly question, then, because there are a minority of ones that don’t, and the ones that do not could probably benefit from them but are unlikely to add them. (That being said, if Ever, Jane adds dinosaurs, it’d be cool.) But which of the many MMOs with dinosaurs handles them best? Which one has the best variety of terrible lizards to interact … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: Which MMO does dinosaurs the best?
I was talking with the guys on our PixARK server today about my plans for what I want to do next in the game. I've decided I want to build a base on the back of a brontosaurus! That has always been a goal of mine, even before I bought the game, but now it's time to make this a reality. How's that going to happen? Well, on our server the brontos are on a different continent. That means we'll have to tame some massive manta-dino and strap a platform on its back. Then we'll have to tame a bronto and walk it onto that platform, and 'sail' it back to our continent. My grand plans for this brontosaurus base in PixARK include having the whole thing decked out with electricity, automated defense turrets, air conditioning, and a complete home away from home. Thinking about the 'building a home' side of PixARK, I had flashbacks of that TV show called Dinosaurs. Did any of you guys watch that? So much about the game reminds me of Dinosaurs. We're also thinking about … [Read more...] about Dino-Riders or Dinosaurs (TV)
