Grim Dawn preps challenge areas and the Shattered Realm for its next expansion
Don’t expect a relaxing luxury cruise with Grim Dawn’s Forgotten Gods expansion later this year; it’s going to be a rough-and-tough ride that will require players to be at the top of their game to complete. Part of this toughness comes from its new game mode, which the team is calling the Shattered Realm. This instable instance will task players to dive deep and fast into it before a timer runs out and the treasures disappear. Just to make things even more interesting, the further players progress, the harder combat encounters become. And if you want to really test your mettle, why not take a dip in the challenge areas? These zones use difficulty scaling to great effect, ramping up the danger while increasing drop rates. “All this combines to making your loot hunt more dynamic each time you play,” the devs said. Latest Grim Misadventure Previews The Guardians of Korvan
The latest Grim Dawn Misadventure has been published on the game's forum. Readers will be treated to a preview of one type of creature they will encounter when The Forgotten Gods launches later in 2018. Called The Guardians of Korvan, these are animated keepers "that were forged to resemble the celestial figures" that were prevalent in the area aeons ago. As players roam through the ancient ruins of Korvan, they will need to find ways around them. Do not mistake their still features and stone joints as a sign of weakness. These guardians are powered by unnatural eldritch forces that give them a form of life. If they, or their wards are threatened, expect to be met with a few tons of resistance. You can also check out a couple of music compositions that were recently featured in livestreams by the Crate team. Grim Dawn releases the kraken, crafts rune augments for the Forgotten Gods expansion
Last week the waters of Grim Dawn got even more treacherous, thanks to a patch that released a kraken god to harass players (and make life more fun). “Seek out Kra’vall the Ancient of the Waters within central Ugdenbog if you dare and earn new Monster Infrequents exclusive to this powerful foe,” the devs advised. But that’s not all that’s lurking below the surface of this online ARPG. Grim Dawn’s team is hard at work on the Forgotten Gods expansion. One major feature that’s coming with the pack? Rune augments! Rune augments can be applied to medals to enable active abilities for characters. These are generally focused around mobility, giving players the skills to teleport, charge, and leap across the battlefield. These runes can be obtained through crafting, reputation vendors, and fighting in the expansion’s tough new game mode. Grim Dawn begins formal testing of major engame revamp and new kraken boss
Grim Dawn players and tentacle fans should point their eyeballs at Crate’s official forums today, as the studio says update 1.0.6.0 is now officially in testing. What’s in it? For starters, a creepy kraken. “Kra’vall, the Ancient of the Waters, has stirred within Ugdenbog and awaits daring new morsels. Beware, as its lair is heavily guarded by local Slith, which are certain to defend their aquatic ‘god.'” Crate also says it’s pumping out new armor sets, putting Nemesis bosses on the minimap, tweaking pet skills, rebalancing boss resists, and making “over 60 changes to items in addition to adjustments to every mastery.” But maybe the most useful bit is the sweeping overhaul for endgame. “The Crucible’s end-game has stagnated a bit and we’re going to give it a nice big boost, with significant balance changes that should bring new playstyles into the fray,” the studio explains. The devs aim to cap defense … [Read more...] about Grim Dawn begins formal testing of major engame revamp and new kraken boss
