Is Hunter X Hunter worth checking out? We’ve spent some time playing it, and here’s what we think! What Is Hunter X Hunter? Hunter X Hunter began its life as a modest manga that soon exploded in popularity. Its first anime series premiered in 1999 (and then another in 2011). The manga was also adapted into quite a few video games. Now it’s a free-to-play, browser-based MMORPG. Fans of the manga and anime will surely find a lot to like here, and if it’s their first MMORPG of this nature, it will feel fresh, but this is definitely not a fresh formula. Almost everything in Hunter X Hunter Online has been seen elsewhere. Fortunately, though, HXH Online (as it will henceforth be called) does it all well. For the most part, HXH Online plays itself. You tell your party where to go, and they do the dirty work of killing any enemies all on their own. Along the way, you will gain plenty of experience and items to bolster your forces even more and allow them … [Read more...] about Hunter X Hunter 2018 Review: Is It Worth Playing?

Known as Astral Crown in Taiwan, Crown Four Kingdoms is the latest mobile MMORPG announced by Taiwanese developer X-Legend Entertainment. We first covered the game back in June 2017 when it was primed for Closed Beta testing domestically. Astral Crown talks about 4 kingdoms formed after years of war fighting over holy items. Each kingdom has a powerful holy item, and players must choose to start in one of the colored kingdoms. The holy items include the red Sword of Victory, blue Soul Grail, green Crown of Life, and yellow Staff of Truth. Rumors have been floating about the Demon clan reviving, which was defeated long ago by the power of these holy items… There are 4 basic classes at the start (Warrior, Assassin, Ranger, Archmage), and each of them will later unlock an advanced class (Paladin, Brawler, Hunter, Priest) when the various different requirements are met. Players are free to switch between the original class and advanced class during battle to make use of unique … [Read more...] about – Global pre-registration goes live for new mobile MMORPG from X-Legend
Throughout their time in Monster Hunter World, players will have to make a lot of decisions, but none of them are as important — or as difficult — as deciding which of the game’s 14 weapons to take up. With so many options to choose from, it can be a daunting task to figure out which weapon best fits your playstyle, and even after you’ve made up your mind, there’s still the matter of figuring out how to master your weapon’s mechanics and moveset, as well as deciding on which skills to incorporate into your build. In the hopes of making the process a bit easier for both greenhorn and veteran hunters alike, I’ve compiled some brief (and some not-so-brief) rundowns of each weapon and its playstyle, core mechanics, useful moves and combos, and recommended skills. These are by no means comprehensive guides, but I hope that they’ll serve to give players interested in picking up a new weapon a good idea of how they play and which skills … [Read more...] about The Hunter’s Arsenal: Massively OP’s guide to the weapons of Monster Hunter World
Morning all you people out in internet land. For the second day in a row I feel absolutely miserable. I think overall it is just a massive overload of allergies, but it has managed to go and piss off my asthma. As a result I ended up at home about halfway through the day yesterday and have been juggling breathing treatments ever since. I have yet to decide if I am going to attempt going in today, but right now it doesn’t seem likely. I feel worse than I have felt in a long time. Once upon a Cleric Today’s post has been spurred on by a comment on twitter to yesterdays post. Essentially a friend of mine said that they would make a healer out of me yet. To which I replied… that few would believe but I actually started out my MMO gaming “career” as a healer. The friend of course could not believe that… so I figured today I would regale you all with the tale of how I ended up being so damned tank … [Read more...] about Once upon a Cleric
Before my GDC interview with Producer Matt “Destromathe” Pettit last week, I was really frustrated with the news about Defiance 2050. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Defiance, but mostly out of lack of experience; I liked the transmedia idea, and when that died, so did my interest. When Trion announced 2050, I couldn’t join in the excitement. The details were scant and PR-y. I wasn’t even happy with the questions we got back. When I was told I’d get an interview with Pettit at a “party,” I was worried it might mean I’d need a stiff drink to accept what I was being invited to see. In short, I expected 2050 to be a cash grab. But now I wish Trion had put in its announcement everything Pettit told me. I feel much better about what Trion’s doing now that I’ve seen the product, and I didn’t even drink anything beforehand! Maybe just call it a comeback One thing you might have noticed is … [Read more...] about GDC 2018: Hands-on with Trion’s ‘reimagined’ Defiance 2050
