After postponing the update for a week, the Fish ‘n’ Ships update will finally land in Trove coming Tuesday (March 31). You can preview what’s coming in their latest livestream video on Twitch. Or you can read the summary written by Bragi in the official forum. Also, since it was originally scheduled to go live last week, we know quite a lot of what’s coming. This doesn’t make it any less exciting, of course! Please note that the update will come about three hours earlier than usual as Trion is doing some other maintenance which affects the time slot they have to use to update the game. One thing I’m still confused about is whether the class will be called “Pirate Captain” or “Pirate Lord” or maybe just “Pirate“. At least, the official announcement of next week’s patch only calls it “Pirate” with nothing else added. But that’s just a small detail. Altogether, this class looks like a lot of … [Read more...] about Coming to Trove next: Fishing, Ships & the Pirate class

Support Massively OP on PatreonWere you too busy gaming this week to pay attention to MMO news? Get caught up every Sunday evening with Massively Overpowered’s Week in Review! There are hardly any proper MMORPGs that haven’t already seen at least one major business model shift over the years, and this week Star Trek Online announced its second: It’s going even more free-to-play, or maybe more buy-to-play, depending on how you look at it, as it’s trading its optional subscription away for an optional flat-fee buy-in. Meanwhile, we’re looking ahead to Guild Wars 2’s underwater update, watching players quibble over Elder Scrolls Online’s and Star Citizen’s business models, debating the state of modern MMO raiding, genuinely enjoying SWTOR’s latest update, being surprised that WoW’s doing so well, and mourning the impending loss of two PWE MMORPGs. Everyone and their mothers should be aware by this point that Bless Online is launching in just a mere few weeks. Bless Online is an open world, 3D fantasy MMORPG published by Neowiz. Bless is a more mature take on the MMO genre from what I’ve seen, featuring cutscenes you wouldn’t traditionally find in most the MMORPGs I’ve played in the past. If you’d played the original Korean version in the past, or even the Russian port, you may have a sour taste in your mouth. There were a lot of bugs that went unfixed and the servers ended up being ultimately shut down. Granted, at this point in time we haven’t seen the new overhauled game, however, they have promised we will be getting a look at it in the coming weeks. One of the most pressing concerns is that the game will become pay to win – a problem that many a free to play title ends up falling victim to. There will be a cash shop in place, like pretty much every MMORPG has. You … [Read more...] about Should You Play Bless Online? Everything You Need To Know About The Upcoming MMORPG!
I've been thoroughly playing Black Desert Online for a good two months now, which should explain the lack of articles on my website lately. Most of the end game features lead back to guild related or the pvp content because it doesn't really have any major PvE activities like raids or dungeons yet, other than various life skills and summoned weekly and daily bosses. New GvG and PvP videos added for fun :3. Battles Are Won with Strategy, Trust, and Negotiations! Although I am in sizeable guild most, one of the main reasons we won is because our guild decided to make peace and form an alliance with other guilds. There is no official "alliance system" in Black Desert Online so I had to make sure that I didn't accidentally kill an ally guild in the GvG siege area. The alliance is purely based on trust and went something like if you help us get this castle, we will help you obtain other castles in the future. Not that I can read Korean, but you should get the gist. Meanwhile, the strategy … [Read more...] about STEPARU News, Reviews, Previews & Information for Foreign Games Black Desert Online PvP and GvG Review
Today's big story is Trion's announcement of Defiance 2050, a remake of their 5 year old sci-fi MMORPG shooter Defiance. The game originally launched alongside a SyFy series of the same name that lasted 3 seasons. While the show isn't making a comeback, Trion has announced that Defiance 2050 will be ready by summer 2018. We don't have all the details just yet, but we do know players won't be able to transfer their current characters over. Besides a graphics overhaul, Defiance 2050 will have a new class and progression system. In many ways Defiance 2050 reminds us of another dated MMORPG that got a new lease on life: Secret World Legends. Funcom managed to revitalize an otherwise archaic game into something that can compete in the free to play reality of today's MMORPG marketplace. Defiance 2050 is set to launch as a free to play title available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. With that in mind, we're hopeful that other studios will adopt this strategy. There are so many great MMORPGs with … [Read more...] about The Weekly Raid: Which MMORPGs Should Get a Defiance Style Reboot?
