Gamevil announced today that their upcoming mobile MMORPG Talion is accepting pre-registrations in the U.S. and Europe. The game bills itself as Japan's #1 Mobile MMO, but that's a dubious claim at best, because it's currently nowhere near the top list in the Japanese app store today. Perhaps it was at one point, but it's nowhere to be found today. Still, anyone looking for a new mobile MMORPG may want to give this one a try. No word on when it's launching, but I suspect given that pre-registrations are open now, it'll launch by the end of the month or early May. Gamevil describes Talion as: TALION is a 3D open-world MMORPG, featuring 20 vs. 20 large scale player versus player (PvP) battles with excellent high-quality graphics and in-game features including a full 3D view with 360-degree view control. The game also features a character customization system that has up to 48 different customizable components, allowing players to create truly unique characters. NCSoft USA announced today that Aion: Awakened Legacy is launching on October 24th, 2018 which is the biggest update of the year for the game. Awakened Legacy, better known as 6.0, increases the game's level cap to 80, introduces the new Lakrum zone, adds new skills, gear, items, and more. It's a massive update and to celebrate the occasion, NCSoft is giving away free awakened gala gift packs (visit the splash page to get them). The European version of Aion through gameforge received this exact same update early last week, so the North American version is a tad late. Still, better late than never. This is the first time the game has increased its level cap since 2016, so it's a massive update. Mark your calendars! Despite enormous success in its home market of China, Arena of Valor hasn't made the same inroads in the Western market. It isn't exactly a disaster though as the game has reached 1 million downloads on both iOS and Android combined since launching into beta in December 2017 according to mobile game analytics firm Sensor Tower. Revenue in Western markets totals $3 million since release. “Despite their popularity in China and Southeast Asia, mobile MOBAs have struggled to gain traction among U.S. smartphone gamers,” said Sensor Tower cofounder Oliver Yeh. “Looking at its first six months, Arena of Valor is making a strong showing in the genre, grossing as much in six months as one of its main rivals, Vainglory, did in 10 months following its transition to free-to-play. It’s important to note that even the highest earning mobile MOBA in the U.S., Moonton’s Mobile Legends, has only made about a quarter of Fortnite’s first 90-day revenue on iOS across … [Read more...] about Arena of Valor Hits 1 Million Downloads in U.S.

A chain of business connections could have a real and dire impact on Daybreak Games Company following the freezing of company assets by the U.S. government. On April 6th, the U.S. Department of the Treasury targeted several Russian oligarchs and froze their assets due to “destabilizing activities” by these figures (including suspected interference in the 2016 U.S. election). One of the oligarchs so punished was Viktor Vekselberg, who owns the Renova Group conglomerate and its subsidiary, Columbus Nova. Columbus Nova, you may recall, is the parent company of Daybreak Games. The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control has given Renova and other Russian companies until June 5th to “wind down operations, contracts, or other agreements” involving these figures. Between $1.5 and $2 billion assets from Vekselberg have been frozen as the result of these sanctions. It is unclear if any of Columbus Nova’s assets are part of this. Renova isn’t commenting on the … [Read more...] about Daybreak’s Russian parent company’s assets are frozen by the U.S. government
