SMITE God Review – Persephone, Queen of the Underworld

I’ve asked for a few years now, “If we have Hades, why not Persephone?” Even for a Greek God, she has such an interesting backstory. When I realized she was on the way, I hoped and prayed for another Guardian. Come on, you know my schtick by now. The role fits for such a loving, protecting goddess, especially the goddess of the Harvest – honest! Well, I was close, because she is a Magic-user. The Greek Pantheon receives yet another Mage, and I wither away a little inside. She’s a blast to play though, and her kit is definitely unique. Boy, can she do a lot! Her leap passes through walls, she can heal herself, and she has horrifying range. Her ultimate is a beautiful root/aoe that even works if you blast a wall with it. Despite her role, I enjoy playing Persephone; it’s pretty rare I have fun with a Mage. She feels like she has a lot of possibility as a utility god, forcing people to play her (and her team’s) game. Persephone, daughter of Zeus … [Read more...] about SMITE God Review – Persephone, Queen of the Underworld

Pokemon Go is pushing Gen 4 and Let’s Go Content at the same time

Nintendo and Niantic seem to be working overtime these days: With Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu games coming in November and Pokemon Go’s big updates usually also landing in the fall, we’re seeing a lot of content popping up and overlapping. And much as with the addition of Alola Pokemon, overlapping content means the game can hit the nostalgia factor while also feeling new and relevant. And that’s important because POGO’s big updates also include other changes. For example, not only did the Official Pokemon Site reveal that the new mythical Pokemon Meltan (from the Chikarita Community Day surprise ending) will come from trading Pokemon from Go to Let’s Go, but the Pokemon spawns from a new and unique item. At the same time, the Official Pokemon Go Site announced that Pokemon stats are going to be recalculated, so the defense stat, which is currently undervalued will be more important, and the hitpoint stat will be adjusted, threatening … [Read more...] about Pokemon Go is pushing Gen 4 and Let’s Go Content at the same time

Guild Wars 2: Super Box Adventures of How I Learned to Love Content Updates

It’s like clockwork. Every year, around the end of March I wait for the announcement that Super Adventure Box is returning to Guild Wars 2, along with a little cheeky April Fools gag from the folks at ArenaNet.  advertisement  2013 was a new and exciting time for Guild Wars 2. Living World Season 1 was in full swing, Scarlet Briar was just a figment of a designer’s imagination and we were still getting wiped on the reg by Lupi. The world was a bit grim with Braham’s moody sullen-ness and Rox’s abandonment issues, so we needed something to brighten up Tyria.Along came the Super Adventure Box. Designed by Josh Foreman in his spare time, it quickly became some of the most beloved content in the game. Somehow the colourful, casual nature of this time limited content grabbed every single Guild Wars 2 player. For two weeks, it’s the only new content that I can think of in the game that captivated the entire player base and was all but universally … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: Super Box Adventures of How I Learned to Love Content Updates
