The first Nerdy Bookahs blog post appeared on March 12, 2011. The first postings were all about Rift, before I started writing about other games (most prominently Guild Wars 2, of course!). A lot has happened in these past few years. I started a new job, quit that job, started a new job, started another new job, quit the second job, quit the third job. We moved twice in that time, most recently to Northern Germany. Oh, and we got married. Let’s not forget about that! :p I also got invited to Brighton by ArenaNet and NCsoft (because of this blog here). We’ve attended numerous Gamescoms and community meetings – most of them for Guild Wars 2 players, one for NCsoft’s Wildstar and one for Trion’s games. From April 5th through April 12th, Star Trek Online players will be celebrating "First Contact Day". The event marks the first time humans and Vulcans encountered one another. Players will head off to Bozeman, Montana to construct their own replica of the Phoenix, the first "Human warp-capable ship". Players will scavenge for parts that can be used with a basic hull assembly to make their won model of the Phoenix. Leftover pieces can be used to "improve on the pieces they've assembled". Then all captains will head to the silo to launch their models. The one whose goes the highest is declared the winner. Players will also be able to unlock the Bozeman Hyper-Impulse Engines account wide and can get hold of a Phoenix Holo Emitter. A few days ago, the new edition (5th edition) of “The Dark Eye” was released. As part of my birthday present for bookahnerk, I had preordered both the softcover and the hardcover version of the rulebook. The hardcover version even came with a download coupon for the PDF version. The rulebook already properly prepared by bookahnerk for Saturday. “The Dark Eye” is a roleplaying system made in Germany (and quite big over here consequently), similar to Dungeons & Dragons. But, as I was told, more focused on character development and less focused on “killing and loot”. I don’t know if that’s true, as I don’t know Dungeons & Dragons well. Captains prepare! Developers have announced that the Victory is Life content expansion for Star Trek Online will be launching for PC on June 5th. Victory is Life is a Deep Space Nine-themed expansion that sees many of the original cast members voicing their characters in the game as well. Players will also find the Jem'Hadar playable faction enter the game, an increased level cap, seven new episodes and the Gamma Quadrant Sector Battlezone. Victory is Life, the newest expansion to Star Trek Online, takes Captains beyond the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant, on an incredible adventure featuring 12 actors from Star Trek: Deep Space Ninereprising their roles including Nana Visitor as Kira Nerys, Rene Auberjonois as Odo, and Armin Shimerman as Quark. For the first time, step into the shoes of a warrior of the Dominion and create a Jem’Hadar Captain to explore and battle in the Final Frontier.  The console version of Victory is Life will launch later in 2018.
