6.0 Expansion to Focus on Empire vs Republic

During an interview with Star Wars: The Old Republic Central, BioWare's Eric Musco and Charles Boyd confirmed that the 6.0 expansion is in the works and, in fact, already has a release date, though he would not specify when. However, Boyd did mention this: "We're definitely going to be getting back to a Republic vs Empire core storyline  getting back to that war, revitalizing it into the core original SWTOR conflict".  Boyd further added, "I feel very -- it depends on how much story comes out before it, I suppose. But I would be willing to bet that ti will feature the Republic vs Imperial storyline". While there is no current date available, players can look forward to 5.9 coming out in early May that will bring the Theron traitor story to a close and "put a capper on all the Eternal Throne-related activities...in terms of being the focus of the story". You can check out the full interview on the Star Wars: The Old Republic Reddit.   … [Read more...] about 6.0 Expansion to Focus on Empire vs Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic 6.0 Expansion Announced, Focuses on Empire vs Republic

In an interview with SWTOR Central, a popular Youtube channel, Bioware's Eric Musco and Charles Boyd confirmed that they are working on another expansion for the sci-fi MMORPG which will focus on the Empire vs Republic core storyline. The game already has an internal tentative release date, but they can't quite announce it to the public just yet. Once they do though we should hear more about all the new features coming to the game. This bit of news should come as relief for many as it was rumored that SWTOR would be shutting down after massive server mergers. Now that we know there's another expansion in the works, I suspect the game won't be on the chopping block anytime soon. Learn more on the SWTOR Subreddit. Former Star Wars The Old Republic Dev Offers Thoughts on Loot Boxes

Former Star Wars The Old Republic developer Damion Schubert has offered his opinion on one of the most heated and controversial entities in video gaming today: Loot Boxes. Courtesy of Reddit user hydrosphere13, who has put together a number of tweets from the ex-developer of the MMORPG, Schubert gives his opinion on Loot Boxes and how they should be utilized and implemented. Having worked with F2P games for four years, Schubert states that Loot Boxes are “crucial to that business model working.” And whilst they can be introduced in a manner that could benefit players, they are also a feature that can easily be done wrong. As for what the most common error is that developers make in free-to-play games when using Loot Boxes, Schubert stated: “The number one mistake that I’ve seen in F2P games is devs who don’t understand that NOT SPENDING IS NORMAL PLAY. Most of your customers will NEVER give you a dime.” “The Zynga Facebook games that used to … [Read more...] about Former Star Wars The Old Republic Dev Offers Thoughts on Loot Boxes

Star Wars: The Old Republic Delays Double XP Event

Developers often try and create special little mini events for players to take part of in order to make their characters stronger, richer, more skilled, and of course, to keep the players engaged in their game. For Star Wars: The Old Republic, they were planning to do just this with a Double XP event that would entice all players who were around. But, things have apparently not gone to plan, and the team have been forced to delay the event, but not without giving some good news to players as well. You see, the team notes on their forum that there was a scheduling conflict that made it impossible for them to do the Double XP event. However, they aren’t canceling it outright, they’ll instead make it so that it launches on 12/12. What’s more, the team also notes that to honor those who were waiting for this to happen, they’ll be extending the event when it arrives until 1/1. That’s actually double the usual time this event would’ve gone on. What … [Read more...] about Star Wars: The Old Republic Delays Double XP Event
