Booming Games and My.com’s Conqueror’s Blade is now in open beta, letting anyone access all the medieval mayhem for free. The game simulates not only battles, from simple skirmishes to massive castle sieges, but also has a wide open world and robust, player-driven economy, and you can also engage in diplomacy and form and join houses, the game’s equivalent of guilds. All of that made me consider it a kind of “medieval Eve Online,” complete with the possibility of getting ganked in the wild and losing at least some of your hard-earned loot. The trailer below lays out pretty much everything there is to find in the game, as well as teasing the prospect of naval battles in the future, so if the notion of claiming your destiny in a vast, medieval world appeals to you, check out the game now on its website or download it via the My.com launcher. … [Read more...] about Conqueror’s Blade Launches Into Open Beta
Destiny 2 open beta
2Dogs Games is proud to announce the start of a KickStarter initiative for its groundbreaking MMORPG, Destiny’s Sword. From its unique features, sandbox gameplay elements and an epic story written by prolific fantasy and sci-fi author M. D. Cooper, Destiny’s Sword is out to shake up the MMO genre. Destiny’s Sword is the first RPG of its kind – where characters can “feel” up to 80 emotions – good and bad – through proprietary algorithms 2Dogs Games calls the Insight Engine. To help tell the stories of this brave new sci-fi universe, 2Dogs Games has enlisted the help of one of the world’s most prolific authors. M. D. Cooper took the world by storm with his debut novel, Outsystem. Since then, he has penned more than 70 books based around an original universe, Aeon 14. Last night was the beginning of the Destiny 2 PC beta for those of us who have already preordered the game. I am one of those weirdos that loves Destiny so much that I plan on playing it on multiple platforms. With Destiny year 2 and beyond I played it actively on both the PS4 and Xbox One… and going forward I am planning on doing the same and splitting time between PC and PS4. One of the things you need to realize is that I have some strange habits when it comes to gaming. I split my time between my gaming desktop upstairs and my gaming laptop in the living room. I’ve found the secret to marital happiness as a gamer is to be able to be flexible in my gaming habits and there are nights when I just need to be more available than cloistered in my office with my ear cans on. As a result I have two systems to worry about being able to play Destiny on. The positive is however as someone who potentially might be interested in Destiny 2, … [Read more...] about Destiny 2 PC Beta Thoughts

This week’s Around the Verse does touch on the 3.4 release of Star Citizen, but the big news is definitely from Squadron 42, which has released its big roadmap as promised. While Roberts says the Star Citizen spinoff game is “definitely on the downhill slope right now” and most of the game’s main features will be finished by the end of 2019, the AI is the major “unknown risk.” Right now the alpha is projected for early 2020 and then beta by Q2 2020. In Star Citizen business news, it looks like that investment round that’s been kicked around Reddit for the last few weeks is a real thing. As the “investment fact sheet” confirms, the Cloud Imperium conglom raised an additional $46 million from private investment firms (“Clive Calder’s family office and Keith Calder’s Snoot Entertainment”), to bring Cloud Imperium’s total “money valuation” to $496 million. The deal also adds two new board … [Read more...] about Star Citizen ATV, Squadron 42’s projected 2020 beta, and Cloud Imperium’s $46M private investment
