Neverwinter nights is a game that I have been watching off and on since I first heard it announced. It has kinda just existed out there in the ether, as something I knew was on the horizon, but not necessarily something that I was overly hyped with. I think to some extent, a part of me has decided that while Dungeons and Dragons is an amazing pen and paper game system… that something is lost in translation when it is “mmo-ified”. I missed out on getting my invite to beta testing through the Torchlight II preorder program. So when they started offering the various flavors of founders packs I decided that I would go ahead and pick up the $60 Guardian of Neverwinter pack. At the time I felt like a bit of a sucker, but at least it was nowhere near the “I want to play as Drizzt” pack for $200. Since god is cruel, I had a friend offer me an alpha invite a few weeks later. Alpha, Beta and Pre-Release Firstly let me take this … [Read more...] about The Neverwinter Edition
We’ve been having a lot of fun over at The Arcanist’s Mill and the roleplaying community has exploded. There are now more people than ever who are interested in fleshing out their characters. While the Tavern is free for all to join, and anyone is welcome - this is something different. The Caravan to Avermore is a ‘closed roleplay’ where we invite people to join in. We will all work together to form a story, much like a television series, only the players control the characters and decide the direction of the story. If you would like to roleplay, please join The Arcanist’s Mill - it is very welcoming and free for anyone to join. This is a story set in the world of Fractured, including Beastmen from the planet Arboreus. It is set on the human planet of Syndesia and follows on from the Arcanist’s Mill as the characters travel from the town of Kuasrine to Avermore. An 'event' will occur every Friday that the characters will need to react to. We hope you … [Read more...] about [Closed Roleplay] Caravan to Avermore
The Underdogs This is the third week of my MMOs Worth Playing series, and at some point I am probably going to stop doing this introduction. My focus on the games I pick is to try and choose some of the awesome titles out there that may or may not be getting as much love as I think they deserve. No one needs to do a post on the reasons why you should be playing World of Warcraft, because there are tons of sites currently covering WoW. However there are a bunch of games that slip under the radar for one reason or another, and my goal is to pick some of those and talk about the things that interest me about the game. So far I have covered The Secret World and Rift, and this week I am digging up a title that I have not spent nearly as much time as I would have liked playing. I feel like I missed the boat with this title, and at this point there is just too much content for me to ever hope to catch up. I am talking about Lord of the Rings Online, which … [Read more...] about MMOS Worth Playing: Lord of the Rings Online
One of Ever, Jane’s biggest advantages is providing a social gameplay experience that is unlike what you’ve experienced in other MMOs. And while your fancy games may have striking graphics, action-packed combat, and expansive worlds, do they give you butlers? Because Ever, Jane just did that. Personal butlers came with this week’s Open Beta 4 update to facilitate morning calls between players. Who wouldn’t love to drop in for a visit and gossip over tea? It’s how the Massively OP staff starts every day, to tell the truth, along with a spot of sabotage (which has also come back with this patch). The patch also added some new NPC AI, as well as fixes to “misbehaving” furniture and roaming bands of horses. The team notes that this build will see a slight frame rate decrease and still hasn’t reactivated the Mac version, which remains broken.
