Just when you thought that Fortnite’s battle royale couldn’t get any crazier, Epic Games keeps upping the ante with ideas like Port-a-Fort. That’s right: There are now portable forts in the PvP mode that can be deployed in mere seconds. But that’s not all that came with the recent Patch 3.5. Fortnight also added a cinematic replay system, an updated version of the 50v50 limited time mode, four cyberpunk heroes, and neon weapons. On the downside of this patch, guided missiles had to be disabled due to a bug. And going back to that replay system, it sounds like there may be a contest brewing in conjunction with it: “With a suite of cinematic settings you can now capture your most memorable moments, highlights and cinematics. We can’t wait to see what you create. You have an opportunity to win phenomenal prizes with the replay system… very soon.” Source: Patch notes, PolygonSHARE THIS ARTICLE … [Read more...] about Portable forts and a replay function parachute into Fortnite

Black Desert’s weekly patch adds new events, combat tweaks, and ent world boss as Kakao deletes guild forts to save them
Get Black Desert on SteamTree bosses are all the rage this spring in MMOs, and Black Desert’s got one too. Oh, did I say tree boss? I meant terrifying runic entish-behemoth from the deepest, darkest bowels of the earth. “A new world boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin has been added” and will appear on regular servers on Fridays, Kakao says. “A world message will be shown notifying the appearance of Mirumok Destroyer Offin and the actual boss will come out 30 minutes after the message. After the world message of the appearance of Mirumok Destroyer Offin is displayed, it is not possible to interact with Offin using the Ancient Contract: Mirumok Watcher.” You’ll have to defeat him within 15 minutes of spawn or he’ll become even more powerful (womp, womp). And yes, there’s gobs of loot for everyone, with even more reserved for the top 30 finishers. Today’s update also adds several events – this is Black Desert we’re talking about, … [Read more...] about Black Desert’s weekly patch adds new events, combat tweaks, and ent world boss as Kakao deletes guild forts to save them
Sea of Thieves’ Cursed Sails update is live with new sea content, though not kraken and skeleton forts for now
Arr mateys, are you all ready for today’s deployment of Sea of Thieves’ Cursed Sails? Because it’s just gone live with a new video and patch notes to boot. The key part of the update is the campaign itself – and its cursed skeleton ships that basically create a ghostly NPC threat across the game’s seas. “Pirate dominion on the Sea of Thieves is being challenged, by the dead! Skeletons are taking to the waters in grim galleons, united and spurred on by a mysterious captain. Armed with cursed cannonballs that sow chaos and confusion, the dead make war on the living in Cursed Sails! Watch out for banners on the Outposts, calling you out to battle skeleton ships over the course of three weeks. You can also take a break from the action to investigate the source of the skeleton scourge, following a tale of greed and madness starting with a hint from the Bilge Rats.” The update’s got the three-person Brigantine and the alliance system too. Rare … [Read more...] about Sea of Thieves’ Cursed Sails update is live with new sea content, though not kraken and skeleton forts for now
New World’s forts and campfires will be your sanctuaries against the darkness
If you’re hungry for even more New World previews, then PCGamesN has another take on the same demo that outlets got to experience at last week’s Gamescom. The main thrust of the article — and of Amazon’s PR arm — centers around New World’s “large-scale territory wars” that have the potential to expand up to 10,000 players in the future. Although players won’t be fighting in mass battles all of the time, they will be using forts quite often as sanctuaries against the harsh landscape outside. If adventurers get too far away from a fort, they can set up a temporary camp that will, among other benefits, serve as a respawn point. “New World offers a positive, progressive spin on a genre that is often fixated on apocalyptic scenarios and scrambling for survival in a world already beyond long-term rescue,” the article concludes. “Here, instead, there are the foundations of an expansive, player-driven society which is as … [Read more...] about New World’s forts and campfires will be your sanctuaries against the darkness
Torchlight Frontiers Introduces Forts
Today, a blogpost from the Torchlight Frontier devs was released, talking about player Forts. The goal of forts is to “enfranchise the players in the Torchlight world, to give them a piece of it all their own, so it’s not somewhere you just pass through…it’s a place you live”, according to CEO Max Schaefer. The fort becomes accessible quickly in Torchlight Frontiers, and serves as a base of operations for your adventures. One of the interesting things is that players get to design the layout and the decor, so it feels genuinely like your own home. By entering Construction Mode, you can create and organize this fort to be whatever you want it to be. Creating new objects and selecting pieces from collection to place where you please. Their team also put together a few forts, using the current in-game tools, which can be found here: Player Fort A // Player Fort B // Player Fort C It’s also pertinent to note that … [Read more...] about Torchlight Frontiers Introduces Forts
