War of Conquest‘s Kickstarter last fall was a success and has since been in the beta testing phase. The time has come for them to seek further feedback and as of September 20th, it launches into Early Access. The Kickstarter campaign for War of Conquest wrapped up in October 2017 and exceeded its goal by raising $8,698. War of Conquest is a reimagining of an earlier game by IronZog that went by the same name. The original War of Conquest ran from 2002 through 2011, had over 200,000 players and developed a cult following that continues to be a presence on social media years after the game went offline. Many fans of the original came back to support the Kickstarter and have been taking part in beta testing over the past year. War of Conquest will also go live on Linux and Android at the link below. After Early Access, it will be released on PC (Steam), Android through Google Play, and on iOS at the Apple App Store. Interested parties can take a look at their Steam page here. … [Read more...] about War of Conquest Launches on Steam’s Early Access Next Week

Rapthorne’s Review: Bless Online Early Access First Impressions
Disclaimer: This First Impressions Review is based on Early Access Head Start experience of Bless Online. The game may very well improve a great deal during it’s early access period. So… where to begin with this. Despite only having an all time concurrent users peak of 34,000 the servers have been overloaded and stressed to the max. NeoWiz have, seemingly as a reflex, just opened loads more servers without thinking about the issues this will cause in the long term (thinly spread population, the nightmare that is server mergers, etc). The first 12 hours after the head start launch, the servers went down for maintenance for an hour at least 3 times, on top of the actual scheduled downtime all the servers were disconnecting every few hours, and even if you managed to connect to a server, people were met with 3+ hour long queues to simply log in and create their characters. This of course assumes you were even able to make it to the server selection screen, as a … [Read more...] about Rapthorne’s Review: Bless Online Early Access First Impressions
Worlds Adrift launches on Steam early access while overseen by actual airship
Floating up out of the drydock of closed beta, Worlds Adrift launched into the bright blue skies of early access today. The airship sandbox drummed up hype for the release with a publicity stunt that involved hauling a batch of players high up into the air over London to try out the game. (The first livestream in the sky? Why not!) “Worlds Adrift is now releasing to Steam Early Access,” Bossa Studios trumpeted. “This means we have opened up additional servers for both US and EU regions, and will release more servers depending on player population. The UI for the character creation screen has been adjusted to make it easier to pick a server to play on.” With the early access start comes a full wipe and a new build that includes a different layout, additional islands, new clothing items, double the amount of ancient written stories, all-new music, and plenty of bug fixes. The early access client is on sale at 10% off through May 23rd, meaning that you can pick it … [Read more...] about Worlds Adrift launches on Steam early access while overseen by actual airship

Similar to the PC version, players can create the “perfect character” by choosing from a wide range of accessories and weapons. There is even a location-based matching system to find nearby players! Sounds really cool! According to Cyberstep, there are currently 5 game modes available, being: 1. Duel – 4 players Free-For-All battle 2. Raid – Co-op PVE battle 3. 1 vs 1 Deathmatch – Pretty much explained in the name itself 4. Team Battle – 2 vs 2, Blue Team vs Red Team, which will win? Warning: Attacking team member will incur penalties! 5. Story – Pretty much like a campaign mode fighting against AI … [Read more...] about – Google Play Early Access begins next month
A Better Minecraft
Ash is Awesome I have a really huge wishlist on steam, in part because it is a nice way of tracking all of those games that I see every now and then that interest me. Steam will remind me through their UI when they go on sale, and sometimes this is extremely handy. However occasionally it has unintended consequences, like for example… during Pax Prime my friend Ashgar somehow acquired a copy of the sandbox building game Creativerse. The other night he handed me a key for it, and over the last few days I have been playing a significant amount of it. I remember looking at the game and thinking “Pretty Minecraft” and honestly… after playing a lot of it that title still largely applies. Minecraft is a charming game, but it is also a fairly primative game. The magic of Minecraft comes from the fact that it has been so easy to extend and create new types of experiences out of. So in the meantime there have been … [Read more...] about A Better Minecraft
