Readers following the long-running lootbox/lockbox debate will recall that back in February of this year, New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan, who sits on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, questioned FTC reps about gaming addiction and lockboxes as well as urged the ESRB to overhaul its ratings process in regard to lootboxes. Nexon launched their 'Lab Server' for MapleStory today which is built on an entirely new rule-set than traditional MapleStory. The game's Lab Server is considered an ultimate test of skill as monsters are more powerful and the game has permadeath. Every death results in a complete reset of progress. In addition players won't be able to escape death easily by spamming potions as they'll have a 10 second cooldown. The lab server will be up from today until August 28, 2018 and players who participate will get rewarded with goodies on their main server. Jagex announced earlier this week that Runescape classic will be shutting down on August 6th, 2018 due to the fact that their existing technology doesn't support it anymore. Jagex's anti-cheating efforts and tools are compatible with Oldschool RuneScape and RuneScape, but apparently don't work for the Classic version of the game, which led to some serious exploits and other issues. The servers will go offline on August 6th at 8AM BST for good. “We’ve not fully supported RuneScape Classic for years, so why are we suddenly seeing it as a problem now?
