The Dynamic quest feature, however, is a double-edged sword. While it does add a unique element to the game and is definitely an innovation for MMORPG’s, automatically initiating quests usually has players fumbling around with absolutely no clue as to who they’re helping or why since they have no background story to build up on. This, in my opinion, ruins the experience and turns players into mindless zombies that take on a quest just because other people are doing it and they happen to be there. Dynamic quests also require players to be in the right place at the right time. Other players also need to be there to help out since soloing dynamic events more often than not results in constant death and frustration. Still, having dynamic quests is an overall positive because it allows players to gain experience and progress their own way. Don't like a particular dynamic quest? Skip it. Don't want to do these heart quests? Skip them. Players are free to complete the quests they … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Game Review

It went on to sell well over six million copies over the next five years, putting it among the best-selling PC titles of all time. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars blows out 13 candles on its birthday cake – were you there for its first?
The patch notes tell the story: It’s primarily a graphics settings update, but it makes a huge difference to the 2005 MMORPG. Let me elaborate: If two players are attacking the same foe – more than once, as you do need a certain contribution – but are not in a group, you will both get as much experience as you would have gotten if you had fought alone. You will also both get loot. Thus, there is no such thing as “kill stealing”. This means that if you see another player struggling against a foe, there is no harm in helping them out. You also cannot target a friendly player with skills. All support skills are placed on the ground instead (which means that you need to be aware of your surroundings and spot those skills on the ground if you need the support). Groups will still help as you can see where your group members are on the map, but all in all, the necessity to be in a group is strongly diminished. The maximum group size is 5. Larger group sizes are supported through the squad/commander system. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: A FAQ for new players
