It has been widely accepted, albeit begrudgingly, that as companies looked for ways to make monetization more enticing, we the gamers have often been at a loss when it comes to directing how these companies actually do it. Enter, the age of the Loot Box. In their simplest form they are miniature RNG loot containers, but in their most devious form they are Pay to Play slot machines with deceiving rewards. Guild Wars 2 has implemented these loot boxes in the form of Black Lion Chests for a very long time, and with loot boxes under the microscope both by gamers and governments alike, is it time that we say goodbye to Black Lion Chests for good? … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2
How Does Anniversary Gifts Work One reason Guild Wars 2 players love it when the anniversary rolls around is because of freebies. Who doesn’t like freebies? Each year, players get a bunch of free items depending on the date of their character’s creation. These gifts can range from outfits, dyes, cosmetic skins and much more. The 2019 anniversary will be special for those who created their characters in August 2012 of course. They will be the first recipients of the new 7 year gifts which does look amazing. However, all other players that have characters made will still earn prizes – based on the year. Therefore, a character made before August of 2018 will receive the 1 year Anniversary gift for example. To claim these gifts when the event goes live, simply log-in to your character and check your Mail. You should have something along the lines of a Birthday gift, which should contain all your eligible freebies. Note that these items are account bound and cannot be sold … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Anniversary 2019 Gift Guide

It also demands that any system render a number of effects spouting out of the Forge. In essence, the mystic toilet is about as consistent as any populated environment in Tyria is going to be. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Is Slow…. Is It Time for a New PC?
Finally, we’ll touch on currencies, luck, and Karma. Currencies and special items will eventually clog your inventory, as it seems like there are dozens of in-inventory currencies and no place to put them. For PvP players, Shards of Glory may start stacking up as you champion your way through the ranks. Other players may find trade contracts piling up, or writs of experience, and wonder what they should do with them. Some currencies you do need to keep if you intend on using them, such as the Shards of Glory, while others, like transmutation charges or trade contracts, can be consumed to your wallet. There is no need for consumable currencies to build in your inventory. This is also the same for Luck, which you can obtain many different ways, but most commonly you get it from breaking down gear. … [Read more...] about Returning to Guild Wars 2: That Pesky Itemization
