Attributes on gear with the Assaulter’s prefix will now have either power or ferocity as a main attribute (although no attribute combination with ferocity as the primary attribute currently exists), or it will have two secondary attributes that support a power DPS playstyle. The Defender’s gear attribute selection likewise will have either toughness or vitality as a primary attribute, or both as secondary attributes. Healer’s gear will contain a choice with either healing power or concentration as a primary attribute, or both as secondary attributes. Malicious gear will have the requirement of condition damage or expertise as a main attribute, or both as secondary attributes. Celestial gear is being added to the Assaulter’s attribute selection, so it’s available on all four prefixes. … [Read more...] about Attribute-Selectable Gear to be Updated in Guild Wars 2

The Charge The commander and company meet up with Taimi on the airship, who again reminds us to save Gorrik and Blish if we can. Just as Taimi mentions that the Inquest records are the best way to find out the current status of how the Inquest and Awakened are operating, the airship is attacked by some proximity turrets that the airship simply isn’t able to avoid due to its speed limitations. The Olmakhan use their nature magic to summon a furious lightning storm to take out the turrets, though Sly isn’t sure how she can steer in those conditions. We do manage to make it in one piece, however, and Taimi tells us that every lab has emergency access codes that work even in times of total lockdown, so the party sets about finding them while she stays on the airship with Sly. They notice, though, that there isn’t a sign of any Asura and that all the active golems are acting rather oddly. As we explore further, it is rather hard to tell the Inquest apart from the Awakened … [Read more...] about Flameseeker Chronicles: Deep-diving Guild Wars 2’s A Bug in the System (part 2)
Let me elaborate: If two players are attacking the same foe – more than once, as you do need a certain contribution – but are not in a group, you will both get as much experience as you would have gotten if you had fought alone. You will also both get loot. Thus, there is no such thing as “kill stealing”. This means that if you see another player struggling against a foe, there is no harm in helping them out. You also cannot target a friendly player with skills. All support skills are placed on the ground instead (which means that you need to be aware of your surroundings and spot those skills on the ground if you need the support). Groups will still help as you can see where your group members are on the map, but all in all, the necessity to be in a group is strongly diminished. The maximum group size is 5. Larger group sizes are supported through the squad/commander system. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: A FAQ for new players
Also, who makes a re-release of a game like this and does not take the chance to add a functionality to take screenshots? Or, come to think of it, who releases such a game without the option of doing so? Especially since this is from Trion, a company that added the functionality to take a screenshot and tweet it automatically as well as the functionality to take a video and upload it to YouTube directly from within the Rift client? I know there are a lot of things to be annoyed with in Defiance and I am, but this missing feature is driving me crazy! … [Read more...] about Summer of MMOs: Rift, Defiance, Guild Wars 2
“A while back, my wife and I got into this anime called Log Horizon that involves thousands players getting trapped in an MMO world. Not in a virtual reality way, but actually physically there, having to work out how to navigate the intricacies and politics of a world where former players are apparently immortal. Since then, we’ve often joked about what it would be like to wake up one day in the various games that we play. Here are a few of the games that I play or have played over the years, ranked based on how much I would or would not want to live in them.” … [Read more...] about Global Chat: Does Guild Wars 2’s newest episode reach for the stars?
