Elisabeth Cardy: Personally, I don’t tend to draw much distinction, and if I do bring it up, it’s normally as a way of giving context to how I know a person. Just like I’d say “a buddy I met in college,” as a lead-in to a story, I might say “a friend I met in Guild Wars 2.” … [Read more...] about Arenanet Talks: Guild Wars 2 Friend/Ship Campaign

Guild Wars 2: Is It The Best MMORPG Social Experience?
The game’s Mentor system allows veteran players who own a copy of the full game to don an in-chat title and map icon showing new players that they are here to help. There are currently no active rewards for participating in the mentor program but a ton of people do it anyway, showing off even more just how great the Guild Wars 2 community really is. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: Is It The Best MMORPG Social Experience?
Guild Wars 2 Game Review
Before players can go gallivanting off into the wide world of Tyria, they must first choose a character, or Hero, to fight with. Character creation in GW2 is a ten-step process which might seem a bit long but is well worth the time if you’re into PVE and role-playing. For players who want to jump right into the action, there’s a handy “Skip to End” button that appears in every step. Clicking the button randomizes the choices for the proceeding steps and takes players straight to the naming part. For the rest who are willing to spend a little time on their heroes, they are given a choice of five races, each with their own distinct characteristics, from the short alchemical inventors of the Asura, to the towering hunters of the Norm. Aside from the differences in appearances, each race starts out in different areas and follows a slightly different storyline. Each race also possesses skills unique to their race. While these racial skills might benefit one class … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Game Review

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Review
Is it worth it to at least own Heart of Thorns? Of course; there are useful things in it that you won’t have access to otherwise. You’ll lack the Revenant class, access to Gliding, and a set of Elite Specializations (one per class). Path of Fire comes with its own set of Elite Specs, so you’ll have two to choose from per class if you have both expansions. They’re basically full classes that operate on a Heroic Mastery system instead of raw exp, but if those don’t appeal to you, and you don’t want to go through all the story (and purchase all the old content you missed out on), you are under no compunction to. However, I do feel like it’s pertinent to note that there aren’t tons of Heroic Mastery points in the Crystal Desert. You can always go back to the old content in Heart of Thorns and Vanilla if you missed them. Like in Path of Fire, each event like this you complete gives 10 points, which is so much faster than the 1 point from the … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Review
