Gwent is one of those card games that helped contribute to why I’ve never actually finished The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. During my journey to find Ciri and deal with the Wild Hunt, I found myself sitting at a table, delaying the fate of the world to sling some cards around a tavern. advertisement So when CD Projekt Red came out with a standalone version of Gwent a few years back, I found myself sucked back in initially. It was fun to build decks out of these wonderfully illustrated cards, battle random people online or with friends to see who a better player was, and just dig deeper into the strategy that I only scratched the surface of in the mainline game. However, my interest waned as the months went on, as it became just another app I had to sit in front of my PC or console to enjoy.I love playing card games. I play Friday Night Magic with my friends and family every week (Control FTW), and I’ve been really big into Hearthstone. However, I only play the … [Read more...] about Gwent On Mobile: Features It Needs To Compete

While E3 official starts today and runs until June 14, all of the major studios have already held their press conferences. There were few surprises, no new consoles were announced afterall. But we did get a few controversial morsels. Perhaps the most contentious announcement was that the previous announced Fallout 76 would be online-only and contain no singleplayer mode or living NPCs. Bethesda took pains to avoid the term 'MMO' for their latest entry in the Fallout series, instead going with the latest industry code word 'shared-world' to describe Fallout 76. The multiplayer aspect will mark a stark departure from other games in the series, with comparisons being made to games like Rust and DayZ. While many were disappointing in the direction of Fallout 76, its likely that this game will be a complement to the series and not a replacement of the traditional singleplayer numeric releases. Another moment of outrage came at the EA conference when the mobile title Command & Conquer: … [Read more...] about The Weekly Raid: What Are Your Thoughts On E3 2018?
Let’s pretend for a moment that the reason Blizzard appears to be dropping the ball with World of Warcraft right now is that it’s working on World of Warcraft 2 for announcement at some point once Classic is out the door. It’s pure speculation, but fun speculation, and really, wouldn’t you be shocked to find out Blizzard isn’t incubating a new Warcraft game? So that’s our topic for Massively Overthinking for the week: What would you want to see from WoW 2? And maybe more importantly, what don’t you want to see in WoW 2? Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): In WoW 2, I’d like to something like The Secret World or PlanetSide 2. Leveling skills instead of your character, factions but the ability to play the game together, open world, varied gameplay, plenty of tools to teleport players to the field, flying vehicular combat… and probably some kind of mobile app companion. Maybe a pedometer with some mini-game to level up pets or … [Read more...] about Massively Overthinking: What would you want out of a World of Warcraft 2?

Hey folks, I am writing this up ahead of time because there is way the hell too much to cover in a normal morning post. Essentially at this point I have watched the Google Stadia, EA Play and Microsoft event. Tonight we have Bethesda and pending how much time I have to digest that before the morning… aka when you are actually reading this post it might be included. I am not going to be covering everything, but instead cherry picking the specific things that interested me from each of the shows. My interests are certain to be different from yours. E3 for years has been the equivalent of the Christmas Catalog or the Toys R Us Big Toy Book depending on your age bracket. However things appear to be changing a bit in both format and who is in attendance. Google Stadia Show Now I have already talked at length about this show, but there was one specific game that I have not really talked much about that came out of it. If you want further commentary on Google Stadia we talk at … [Read more...] about E3 2019 Rundown – Part 1
