Hey Attackers, we have two very different game releases to look at this week. One is an incredibly atmospheric, and at times, claustrophobic single player game and the other is a multiplayer only, hero shooter that’s all about floating and gunning. Let’s take a look. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice This is a game that’s stunning in many ways and not just because of how much work went into creating the game’s atmosphere or art style. The main draw of Hellblade is how it tackles mental illness in a visceral and unflinching way. It’s a game that focuses more on making you identify with Senua than it is a game focused on hacking and slashing. Combat is there but maybe not in the quantities some would like. If you’re looking for a game that’s a bit different–one that’s immersive and disturbing, then you should give Hellblade a try. LawBreakers Lawbreakers is probably as far removed from Hellblade as you can get. It’s … [Read more...] about Weekend Watch: New Releases Hellblade and LawBreakers

Not So Massive: Netflix Removes Star Trek 3
Those nerds, am I right folks? Those of you browsing Netflix for your fix of Search For Spock have likely noticed that the film has gone missing from the website’s instant streaming database. Netflix has confirmed that the film was removed, however not for the reason you might expect. It wasn’t due to contract expiration or any legal issues, but because of incorrectly translated subtitles. According to Netflix, the version that was available on the instant streaming service does not properly translate Klingon and Vulcan into English, and therefore must be taken down and fixed. Instead of looking at one of the previous versions of Search for Spock, apparently Netflix will be hand-translating the subtitles themselves, proving the company’s passion for over-complicating everything. On the other hand, they believe that the project can be done in about a week, after which the movie will appear once again. Kudos to them for trying, even if they are out of their Vulcan … [Read more...] about Not So Massive: Netflix Removes Star Trek 3
Google Project Stream Could Change Permanently Change Video Gaming
When it comes to home consoles a lot of the talk is always about the latest hardware and how expensive that will be to bring to the living room. But what if console manufacturers could eschew expensive, bulky hardware in favor of more asset-light options that not only deliver the most cutting-edge games but also insure that there is absolutely no modding, piracy, or cheating whatsoever? Meet streaming technology and Google Project Stream, an effort by the search giant to bring streaming technology to the next level when it comes to video games and hopefully, one day, deliver on the promise of a “Netflix of games.” Streaming is not a new technology nor is it something that hasn’t been looked at for video games before in the past. On the contrary, Sony has made huge strides in building its streaming network and Microsoft is just beginning to look into more robust ways to deliver games. What most of these efforts focus on is a combination of delivery, breadth of … [Read more...] about Google Project Stream Could Change Permanently Change Video Gaming
Apple Rejects Steam Link Streaming App For iOS
Apple has rejected Valve’s Steam Link app for iOS, the company announced this week. The app, released on Android with no apparent problems, allows users to stream their Steam library to their tablets or phones. According to Valve’s press release, quoted below, Apple cited business conflicts as the reason for their rejection of the app. “On Monday, May 7th, Apple approved the Steam Link app for release. On Weds, May 9th, Valve released news of the app. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team. Valve appealed, explaining the Steam Link app simply functions as a LAN-based remote desktop similar to numerous remote desktop applications already available on the App Store. Ultimately, that appeal was denied leaving the Steam Link app for iOS blocked from release. The team here spent many hours on this project and the approval process, so we’re clearly … [Read more...] about Apple Rejects Steam Link Streaming App For iOS
