On the flip side, both of the trial fights required at least 4 wipes before my teams were able to get them down. Compared to the first time through, folks seem to be having a bit more trouble with mechanics and DPS checks. I was hoping at this point that we’d be getting people who were familiar with the fights, but both times, half or more of the team were new to the trial. I’m not sure how that bodes for the final battle, but I’m not going to worry about it too much at this point. … [Read more...] about FFXIV: Shadowbringers – Second Time Through MSQ
Not a second time
Zul’gurub used to be a hotbed for starter tanking gear, and I have a good number of friends who either enjoy ripping apart old world content or are “a-faction-ados” in need of more rep to hit exalted. As a result it has been pretty easy for me to get a few overpowered friends to clear Zul’gurub for me for gear. I’ve been cautious of gaining too much experience, so as a result I have kept Bobbinn safely out of XP range until it is boss time, only running her in long enough for the kill. Not bad for a game about stompy mechs and base building! … [Read more...] about Pantropy’s second Kickstarter successfully funds and hits five stretch goals along the way
At this year’s E3 followup, there wasn’t any huge new reveal, aside from the launch date itself – just more tweaks. There certainly seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the overall MMO sphere and the 2050 fandom the devs are used to, with the devs somewhat understandably being more connected to their fans. After all, those are people who are willing to pay to play, and especially for a free to play game, that’s what you need. I got my hands on the game for the second time this year, and while it’s a solid play experience, I worry that, created in a vacuum, its potential for growth beyond the original Defiance experience is limited. … [Read more...] about E3 2018: A second look at Trion’s Defiance 2050 reboot
Have you ever successfully dabbled in multiple MMOs? As I just typed that sentence I realize I used the word “dabble” — I think that’s the word I used because ‘playing’ a MMO to me is such an engrossing experience. It’s hard to do much else than make that MMO my priority during my ‘dedicated play time’. … [Read more...] about Can You Play More Than One MMORPG at a Time?
