Beijing-based studio ZLONGAME, a newcomer in the world of online game development, officially announced today that it will be releasing Langrisser Mobile, a mobile game based on the classic RPG series worldwide. The team has stated that it intends to launch a small-scale test soon for Langrisser Mobile, with the official launch coming next year. Langrisser Mobile retains the classic turn-based strategic gameplay of the original series, with class suppression, terrain effects, and unique class trees for a customizable battle experience. Featuring more than 300 classic levels, an unforgettable score by original series composer Noriyuki Iwadare, and all of the heroes from the main series, Langrisser fans, new and old alike, can experience the epic showdown between light and dark with other players around the world in real-time. Realm mobile platform
– Gamevil launches global Closed Beta phase for new mobile MMORPG
As the global pre-registration phase for Gamevil’s first self-developed mobile MMORPG, Royal Blood, is ongoing, the games company is not afraid to steal the game’s thunder by announcing the Closed Beta phase of yet another mobile RPG, Talion. First unveiled back in 2016 with tons of accolades as Project One, Talion can be considered a masterpiece of what the Unity platform could do compared to bigwigs such Unreal Engine 4 for mobile games. In Talion, players will step in a medieval fantasy world and perform large-scale missions with 360-degree camera angle capability that allows for dynamic movement during combat. From all across the world, players from different regions can combine their powers to take on co-op quests. Players can choose from the three characters and personalize their appearance with a wide range of customization features available for the overall physique. Talion possesses a variety of Realm vs Realm (RvR) modes, where players can experience war content … [Read more...] about – Gamevil launches global Closed Beta phase for new mobile MMORPG
GDC 2018: Bridging and embedding cross-platform online communities
As this year’s GDC coverage is winding down, I am finally coming to the topic I saved for last: community. MMOs are more than just multiplayer. We attract the “alone together” people more than the “FPS hero” crowd in our comments section for a reason; MMOs are virtual worlds. They’re a digital space inhabited by other people. We may not talk to them, but we watch and listen. Maybe we engage, maybe we group, maybe we guild. We do stuff in a shared environment because we think, or hope, we’re part of a larger system. And this is why we need to talk about cross-platform communities and the strength of in-game, embedded community tools. As social media rises and mobile crashes against our PC fortress, increased console cross-play should be a reminder that we’re all gamers, and (some) developers are finally getting that. Bringing people together The panel on bridging cross-platform communities, held by Eric Cleaver (NetEase Games), … [Read more...] about GDC 2018: Bridging and embedding cross-platform online communities
Perfect Ten: Mobile MMOs coming in 2017
This past year, we couldn’t seem to go a week without bumping into news of some new mobile MMO or a tablet spin-off of some existing franchise. It seems as though the mobile market is still blowing up, and MMORPG developers are looking for a way to take advantage of the popularity and market penetration that these devices offer. What does this mean? It means that in 2017, we have a whole lot of games heading our way. With any luck, some of them might unseat the low-quality half-breeds that seem to make up a bulk of the existing mobile MMO library and set a higher standard for fun and engagement. Let’s take a look at about two dozen mobile MMOs we could be getting in 2017 — and which ones might be the new contenders for our undivided attention. Unless we mention otherwise, these titles will be coming out for both iOS and Android platforms. The Final Fantasy community was abuzz at the news in early 2016 that FFXI would be going into maintenance mode while adapting to … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: Mobile MMOs coming in 2017
Perfect Ten: 20 upcoming MMOs to watch in 2018
It has become a long-standing tradition as Massively OP and our former site that we like to end the year by creating a list of titles that we anticipate for the coming one. It has always been a devilish list to create, full of loose dates and fast guesswork about which titles will and won’t be releasing during a 12-month window (just read last year’s list to see how spot-on I was). This year we’re changing things up a bit by tossing out the qualifying factor of “will see a hard launch in 2018.” Instead, I drafted up a list of 20 MMOs that have the potential to do or be really interesting next year, whether that be a launch, a long-anticipated beta test, or some other significant development. Plus, hey, you get 20 for the price of 10, so no complaining now! As an aside, this list isn’t going to cover some other exciting-looking multiplayer games that are arriving in 2018, like Anthem, Sea of Thieves, The Crew 2, Monster Hunter … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: 20 upcoming MMOs to watch in 2018
