The riches of the eastern kingdom of Turan have arrived in Conan Exiles, Funcom’s open world survival game set in the brutal world of Conan the Barbarian. Available now on PC and PlayStation 4, and releasing soon on Xbox One, the new DLC introduces the opulent gilded palaces of Turanian culture to the savage Exiled Lands. In addition to more building styles, players will also find new armors and weapons, new warpaints, new placeables such as glittering statues and standing lamps, and two new pack animal pets: the richly adorned caravan Rhino and elephant. Conan Exiles is Funcom’s take on an open world, survival Conan world where players write the stories and create the fun with the tools at their disposal. The game is finally exiting early access to launch globally on May 8th 2018, and much has changed. Since our review almost a year ago, the dev team has continued to iron out issues and improve gameplay based on early access feedback. Now that we’re a month away from launch, are the new changes worth checking out? Here’s what’s coming. A New Combat System The new combat system is very different and a huge improvement on the old one. Five months after the successful release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 which saw Conan Exiles become the company’s bestselling and fastest-selling game ever, Funcom has released the biggest update since the game left Early Access. In this update, free for everyone who owns the game, players finally get the chance to tame animals and use them in battle or even build a farm where they can produce materials for you. The update also introduces an epic new dungeon called Midnight Grove and a new religion allowing players to summon the massive flying avatar of Jhebbal Sag. In addition, the Savage Frontier Pack also just launched on PC and is coming to Xbox One and PS4 on the 17th of October. Funcom has just rolled out a new patch on the Conan Exiles Testlive branch featuring a boatload of fixes, balance updates, and quality of life improvements. The patch also comes with new content in the form of new types of Purge and a new world boss – the Black Yeti. “[The Black Yeti] can be found southeast of the volcano, and in the mountains north-northeast of the Mounds of the Dead. There are no legendary chests near these bosses, although when killed, it drops a key as other world bosses do. In addition, a new purge containing yetis and the Black Yeti as a purge boss can now spawn in the northern area of the map.” According to Funcom’s development schedule, the current Testlive patch should hit the live servers by the second week of February.
