I guess every MMO enthusiast has heard about WoW Classic by now. At the end of August, servers will open. A few months of playing the “good old World of Warcraft” again sounds like a nice thing to do. So far, I have played Rift Prime, the “classic” – or rather, progression – server in Rift, which was mostly the current base game without the expansions and without the newest class, but also without the cash shop as it is on the live servers. The experience was nice for a while, but interest soon died down and Rift Prime has been permanently closed in the meantime. Lord of the Rings Online announced their legendary server a couple of months ago and since I have a lifetime subscription, I can play on that server without spending any more money. Come to think of it… it seems that the “classic servers” all require a monthly sub. Old school, I guess! Anyway, some friends and I had intended to check out the legendary server in LotRO, but … [Read more...] about Paeroka’s Ponderings: Back to the roots…?

Keyword research is without a doubt, the backbone of search engine optimization (SEO). Without going through this initial phase of research, your SEO campaign will be based on a lot of assumptions and unlikely to produce real results. Furthermore, despite the fact that keyword research is done in the start of most SEO campaigns, if it is not done accurately, it can lead to great financial loss, time and resources. It often even requires web design updates to ensure a good user experience. It’s a procedure that many SEOs are only high level versed. What many are not aware of, is the fact that there is a deeper level of research that many over look. This type of research is generally referred to as keyword forensics. What is Keyword forensics Keyword forensics is defined as exploring all types of behaviorally related search data that can translate into potential keywords or key-phrases for your SEO campaign. In order to understand the dynamics of … [Read more...] about Keyword Forensics: Taking Your Keyword Research to the Next Level
Since eating is mandatory in this game, one of the things that I have been thinking about is having herb gardens and a spice trade in this game. Especially effective high level cooking recipes could require herbs and spices, making them particularly desirable. Herb definition - any plant with leaves, seeds, or flowers used for flavoring, food, medicine, or perfume. Spice definition - an aromatic or pungent vegetable substance used to flavor food, e.g., cloves, pepper, or mace. Herb Gardens – One of the things that I have always found very weird in MMO’s is that they have you gather herbs in the wild instead of planting herb gardens. LOTRO did this for example, and then let you farm on your private land, which seems completely backwards to me. If herb gardens were included in Fractured, I would expect them to be on people’s private lots. One interesting thing to include would be “drying racks” which could be built in the gardens. Fresh herbs could be used … [Read more...] about Suggestion
So I was reading to this tread about AFK activities and I came up with an idea of offline activities instead. I got the idea from a new game Grimmwood, currently in open beta! so try it out!, a survival game in table-top game style. Fractured will have survival elements aswell and in Grimmwood you can set up what your character will do offline. So my idea is for guild settlements only to start with. If you log off at your guild settlement you can create a NPC copy of your character. If you log off you have this log-off window with options what your character will do offline: If your guild settlement has a guildhall/or barraks you can set your offline copy on guard duty, patrolling the settlement (limited guard spots depending on buildings in settlement). You can choose if your offline copy wears your gear, guard duty uniform (costs little) or no gear. Besides patrolling you can also assign your character to towers or siege weapons on walls. Your character will automaticly attack any … [Read more...] about Suggestion: Offline character activities
Hello everyone, I have been playing MMOs for the past 22 years starting back with Meridian 59 and EQ1 as an alpha tester. It's amazing how MMO gaming has changed over the years and, in some cases, is also returning to the roots. I am encouraged with what I have seen so far on Fractured. I am looking forward to watching the development closely. I don't envy developers these days as there are many important decisions to be made and many opinions on the best direction. I am looking for a game with the challenge and community of EQ1, a crafting system similar to Vanguard, a combat system similar to GW2, the questing system and open world aspects of TESO, the solid development and quality of WoW, an event system similar to Rift and GW2 but much more random, something with dynamic AI similar to what was promised in EQ Next, a housing-appearance-mercenary and dungeon design system similar to EQ2, the creativeness and unique creature design of FFXIV as well as some of their unique gaming … [Read more...] about Still looking for the perfect MMO, is this it?
