Tarnish character
I like to play blackjack. I’m not addicted to gambling, I’m addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.
The British Board of Blog Classification (Game Plot Revelation Committee) has classified this post as Spoiler Free for the single player story of ‘Mass Effect 3’. Please refrain from any revelations in the comments, especially about that bit where that thing happens. I mean I was all totally like “NO WAY!”, and the game was all totally like “WAY!”, and then when the thing turned out not to be that thing but the other thing? Definitely don’t tell anyone about that. Though I was a bit disappointed when it all turned out to be a dream. Like much of the rest of the galaxy I’ve been desperately fighting off the Reapers in Mass Effect 3, but I haven’t got terribly far in the story yet, so there really won’t be any spoilers. If you’d manage to insulate yourself from ME3 information so completely that “fighting off the Reapers” is a surprise, I apologise for ruining the first 17 seconds of the introduction. One … [Read more...] about I like to play blackjack. I’m not addicted to gambling, I’m addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.
The Force Awakens
A History With Stars Wars It would be a slight understatement if I were to say that Stars Wars has meant a lot to me over the years. It pretty much represents my childhood wrapped up with a neat little bow. The earliest memory I have is of seeing Star Wars at the local drive-in theater sometime around age two. I became absolutely obsessed with it, and according to my parents walked around the house pretending to be “Darfa Bader”. If nothing else it was the toys that kept the fires lit for me from the moment I started watching through the end of the original trilogy. I played and replayed the scenes from Star Wars so many times with the action figures, and in many ways it was my first foray into storytelling. Sure I started by simply mimicking what I saw on screen, but quickly branched out into telling my own elaborate stories revolving around the cast of characters I knew and loved. I eventually moved on like all kids do to other … [Read more...] about The Force Awakens
Monster Hunter and Destiny
While I am not quite ready to throw out a complete post about it… I am swirling around in my head the notion of rebooting Blaugust this year. If I did so it would be a slightly different affair and I am sorting out in my head exactly what that might entail. There was a period of time when we had a bunch of events happening at the same time… Developer Appreciation Week, Newbie Blogger Initiative and Blaugust. None of which really exist today in their current form and have not properly for a few years. So in remixing Blaugust I would be also attempting to fill some of the niches that the others provided as well by laying out a series of themed weeks. The rough idea is it would start with the last full week in July as a sort of “Prep Week” where the remaining elder bloggers would sorta throw out “how to get started” posts from an inspirational, logistical or technical manner. It is still an idea that is … [Read more...] about Monster Hunter and Destiny
The Survivalist: The good, the bad, and the barbaric of Conan Exiles’ launch
If the survival genre is any indication, Early Access is a nigh indestructable beast! Time and time again we’ve seen where so many have failed to defeat this end boss. But that all changed when one mighty barbarian came along and did just that. Conan Exiles strangled the last breath out of the Early Access beast with its bare hands and cast it aside, then strode straight into the waiting arms of launch this week. Now there is lots to say about this launch, and a good chunk of it is pretty glowing. However, no launch is without some troubles. And sadly, there is also a despicable element as well. Here’s my look at the good, the bad, and the barbaric of the first couple of days of Conan Exiles’ launch. The good What’s so good about the launch? For one, it actually did! Talk about a rarity in this genre. While so many other titles are languishing in three, four, even five plus years of early access, Conan Exiles broke free from that non-launch’s deadly grasp … [Read more...] about The Survivalist: The good, the bad, and the barbaric of Conan Exiles’ launch
