EnMasse Entertainment released their 2018 development roadmap for their anime action MMORPG closers this week and it contains release schedules for 2 new characters and more. Violet the Valkyrie and Wolfgang Schneider are set to launch sometime between July and September while Soma and Luna Aegis will arrive sometime between October and December. While the new characters are perhaps the most exciting bit, the game will be getting an across the board level cap increase sometime between now and the end of the month. Drakensang Release 218 Updates PvP And More
The much anticipated Release 218 is now live and available in Drakensang Online. Release 218 has updated the game’s PvP predominantly, with the addition of new systems, Seasons, rewards and more. Starting with the basics, there’s a completely new Battle Registration window that should make PvP easily accessible. In addition to this, a new Match-Cycles system has also been added for players to queue both Solo or in Teams. Elsewhere, PvP season leaderboards are replacing the old ones for different battlegrounds in Drakensang Online. Now, the structure will show off the top players per season instead. For Team Death Match and Storm the Fortress modes, the sizes of players have been increased to 5, and decreased to 5 respectively. Furthermore, PvP seasons have been added to the game. My MMO Picks for 2018
Destiny 2, my big hope for online extravagance, failed to live up to expectations. World of Warcraft has hit another lull in the gulf between expansions. Over the last 12 months, nothing new has truly landed and stuck. Yes, there’s a few surprises. Final Fantasy XIV launched its Stormblood expansion, while Guild Wars 2 brought us Path of Fire (more on both later). But, putting these to one side, the biggest breakouts in online gaming haven’t brought us grand new MMOs. Instead, tight new ideas like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite have dominated the online scene. Anyhow, enough dwelling on the past. Looking onwards to next year, and there are some significant gems on my release radar. Not all of them are MMOs in the purest sense, but I’m confident this selection will still scratch that itch.
