With the undead and possibly soulless cat out of the bag with Minas Morgul, Standing Stone Games is fielding a whole bunch of questions about Lord of the Rings Online’s upcoming expansion. There are many ways to handle this, but SSG’s favorite medium is via livestream, which is exactly what happened this Friday. Community Manager Jerry Snook gathered together several questions from Hobbits and gamers alike about Minas Morgul and answered them in a video. What was of great interest was further details about the “Mordor Besieged” realm, which Snook said will take players on a time travel trip to the Second Age and the last time Mordor got trounced by the Free Peoples. Here’s a fun twist: You’ll be able to store all of the loot you get in the Second Age part and then dig it up to keep on your main character! Players should expect a virtue cap increase to 65 and at least two new class trait points with the expansion. SSG confirmed a couple of things that … [Read more...] about LOTRO: Minas Morgul will take you back in time to the Second Age

A class like a pure tamer&bard or tamer&mage will be an enjoyable expirience to have in game, and leaves more diversity among the playable archetypes of the game. Pet system can be a 100% bonus for hit or miss on the game for who like this aspect in the MMOs. I remember the days in UO for looking at perfect stats nigthmares and dragons\WW pet, or rare color 0,01% hiryu.. If developed in the right way with a bonding system this core feature can bring hours and hours of farm for the people who like this. Else the option B will probably be: standarize the stats and let a death pet remain death, so you have to actual run back to the pet spawn to take another and again back to the way of pvp\pve, like was in Daoc for the minstrel. ps. As a bonus i can only say that i started playing UO for 7\8 years just because i saw a small image of a nightmare on google images … [Read more...] about Pet system can be based on UO or Daoc?

Hi everyone, Not sure if this idea was already suggested if it was feel free to delete my topic. Regarding crafted items I recall from the day I used to play Ultima Online (used to play on Burstfire UO), every time you crafted an item weapon or armour it would have you character name associated with it at the end would say something like *Crafted by "name" I think that is a cool Idea not sure if you do to, hope so. Another idea would be for the not so common items, Unidentified items that we could find roaming the map if given player were the first to discover such item it would be cool to have his name associated with it same thing as the "crafted by" but something like "Found/Discovered by ..." There you go, my suggestion to improve a minor thing that like me I believe others would enjoy also. Thanks … [Read more...] about Crafted Items / Unidentified Items
I realize it is likely far too soon to begin discussing the particulars of the system (as they are likely a bit further down the line than even basic interactions and other systems), but I'd be interested in learning more about crafting and resource gathering, and a general overview of how the developers plan to implement this system. I realized they've offered some brief snippets (Like not finding swords on rats, and that players will craft a log), but as a former UO player who got hooked on that games methods and implementation (See a tree? Cut it down. At a mountain? Start digging...) and how you can craft without engaging in any form of combat. I'm hopping they will be able to discuss their vision for the system, and how it integrates with the "magic" system they just announced. Perhaps an article just discussing what they see happening? Sincerely, … [Read more...] about Crafting and Gathering
