NCSoft, the team behing Blade and Soul, Aion, WildStar, Lineage and more have revealed their plan to release a new PC MMORPG – yes, you heard that correctly: PC MMORPG – not a mobile port, not a mobile remastering.. A PC Aion MMORPG set in the Aion world. As of right now specifics are being kept under wraps as it is supposed to be kept “top secret”. All that is known thus far is that it is an MMORPG built on Unreal Engine 4 in the Aion universe. This came to light with the recent job opening from NCSoft describing a new “next-generation console and PC MMORPG” project, utilizing 3DS Max to “create character / monster / animation resources for the concept and development environment.” Unreal Engine 4 has given us some of the best looking games to date, with games like ARK: Survival Evolved, the new Final Fantasy VII Remake, Geare of War 4, Injustice 2, Kingdom Hearts III, Octopath Traveler and more. Below is an example of what Unreal … [Read more...] about NCSoft Working On New Aion MMORPG Made With Unreal Engine 4!
When will injustice 2 release new characters
The video games industry is one of huge size and significance. In fact, it is now generating more revenue than the movie and music industries combined, with global video game revenue sitting at an estimated $91.5 billion, in comparison to the movie industry’s $38.6 billion (global figure) in 2016 and the music industry’s estimated $47.5 billion. It was three years ago, in 2015, that video games surpassed these two other entertainment powerhouses. Gaming encompasses a lot of different genres and platforms, from MMO games played on high-end PCs and gaming laptops to casual puzzle games played on affordable mobile devices. It’s clear that there are all manner of ways for developers to cut themselves a slice of the lucrative games industry pie and make a game that best reflects their creative talent. With so much at stake and with there being so many ways to get into the games industry, it may come as little surprise that thousands upon thousands of new games are … [Read more...] about How Do Game Developers Identify Market Trends?
While this column will no doubt be looking at the superhero MMO releases that are currently in development, it’s also here, as we said, to look at the past and present titles in this genre. One question that’s been nagging me is why we are so keen to see one of the upcoming titles come out when we already have two games on the market right now. Is it just a desire to see something new? That’s probably a topic for another day, but this line of thinking nudged me over to check out one of those current superhero MMORPGs for the first time. I’ve never really given DC Universe Online much of a look in the past, but considering this column’s scope, it’s high past time I did. So let me introduce you to Metal Ika, my newfound robot superhero who is bringing lies, … [Read more...] about Into the Super-verse: Trying DC Universe Online for the first time
Yesterday Mortal Kombat 11 released and I spent some time last night playing it. Warning there will likely be spoiler information included in this post, but seeing as I have not gotten terribly deep into the game it won’t be very complete. One thing you need to understand about my psyche is that I was a fighting game arcade rat. During my High School years the world was having its renaissance of fighting games that began with the release of Street Fighter 2 and continued through until the franchises evolved into 3D and the arcade construct as a whole eventually petered out after my college years. That time however was one of mystery filled with random messages scrawled on the proto-internet message boards like those of CompuServe and AOL and a heaping dose of misinformation. I still remember the day my local arcade… and by local I mean one thirty minutes away from my house… got one of the beta boards for Mortal Kombat II. It … [Read more...] about Mortal Kombat 11 – Early Thoughts
