Yesterday’s surprise news that MMO company Trion Worlds had been sold to Gamigo was then all but confirmed by Trion’s Linda “Brasse” Carlson, who announced her departure on the RIFT forums, and by Scott Hartsman himself, who asked Twitter for help placing victims of the Trion layoffs in other companies. While the anonymous claim that as many as 85% of the studio’s 200+ employees had been abruptly laid off hasn’t been officially verified – and Trion itself has yet to respond to requests for comment – Gamigo has moved ahead with a formal press release talking up the acquisition and clarifying that it’s effectively an asset buy-up. “Hamburg, October 23, 2018 – The gamigo AG („gamigo Bond“ WKN: A2NBH2 / ISIN: SE0011614445) has acquired major assets from Trion Worlds Inc., a leading US gaming company with offices in Redwood City (California) and Austin (Texas) and has as publisher and developer of online and … [Read more...] about Gamigo formally announces the Trion Worlds buyout that manifested yesterday

Grim Dawn players and tentacle fans should point their eyeballs at Crate’s official forums today, as the studio says update 1.0.6.0 is now officially in testing. What’s in it? For starters, a creepy kraken. “Kra’vall, the Ancient of the Waters, has stirred within Ugdenbog and awaits daring new morsels. Beware, as its lair is heavily guarded by local Slith, which are certain to defend their aquatic ‘god.'” Crate also says it’s pumping out new armor sets, putting Nemesis bosses on the minimap, tweaking pet skills, rebalancing boss resists, and making “over 60 changes to items in addition to adjustments to every mastery.” But maybe the most useful bit is the sweeping overhaul for endgame. “The Crucible’s end-game has stagnated a bit and we’re going to give it a nice big boost, with significant balance changes that should bring new playstyles into the fray,” the studio explains. The devs aim to cap defense … [Read more...] about Grim Dawn begins formal testing of major engame revamp and new kraken boss
Age of Conan formally announces Saga of Blood PvP server and event
Things are about to get bloody (or bloodier than usual, I suppose) in Funcom’s Age of Conan with the release of a brand-new Saga Server, this time boasting a PvP ruleset. As players had previously predicted, the Saga of Blood server, which will go live on September 27th, is “a new time-limited server running on a PvP ruleset” on which players can roll new characters and “play through a special ‘Saga Quest’ as [they] progress.” As players complete the objectives set forth by the Saga Quest, they will earn exclusive rewards, including cosmetics and high-level PvP gear. The Saga Quest itself consists of a series of “tiers,” each requiring players to hit a certain level milestone in addition to defeating “several players” in PvP combat. Saga of Blood’s level cap will progress according to these milestones, as well; for the first week of the server, players’ levels will be capped at 18, then 30 the next week, and … [Read more...] about Age of Conan formally announces Saga of Blood PvP server and event
