Get ready for more competitive World of Warcraft gaming this year. The 2019 Arena World Championship (AWC) and the rebranded Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) will be leading the lines for WoW’s e-sport and competitive scene. Both the AWC and MDI are growing in 2019, and European players will have the chance to prove that they can mix it against the world’s top opponents in cups and qualifying events coming soon. Blizzard also wants to give fans a chance to further support the programs—and have some fun along the way. Two new in-game toys are coming to the shop (details to follow), with a portion of the sales being added to prize pools for both WoW esports programs. The NA and EU regions will have two Arena seasons each, with six cups per season. Each cup will see teams battle for their share of a USD $10,000 prize pool. This represents an increase over last year’s competition, with more cups and more chances for players to win. Like last year, each cup will … [Read more...] about Blizzard Details Its Plans For World of Warcraft e-Sports 2019
World cup 2019 teams
Although Blizzard may have cut back on esports support for Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft’s esports scene is back and bigger than ever in 2019, and the studio has recently announced its plans for this year’s Arena World Championships and the rebranded Mythic Dungeon International. Both esports events will be boasting even larger prize pools, which will be augmented by the sales of two new in-game toys that will go on sale this spring, with the final prize pools set to be announced “later this year.” Yes, you read that right: Blizzard will be taking a page out of Riot’s book and crowdfunding part of the prize pools. As for the tournaments themselves, there have been a few changes to way things work. For would-be AWC competitors, there will be two arena seasons each for NA and EU, with six cups per season. In each cup, teams will vie for “their share of a $10,000 [US] prize pool,” with each cup awarding the players points that will … [Read more...] about Blizzard lays out World of Warcraft’s esports 2019 plans, will crowdfund part of prize pools

It has become a long-standing tradition as Massively OP and our former site that we like to end the year by creating a list of titles that we anticipate for the coming one. It has always been a devilish list to create, full of loose dates and fast guesswork about which titles will and won’t be releasing during a 12-month window (just read last year’s list to see how spot-on I was). This year we’re changing things up a bit by tossing out the qualifying factor of “will see a hard launch in 2018.” Instead, I drafted up a list of 20 MMOs that have the potential to do or be really interesting next year, whether that be a launch, a long-anticipated beta test, or some other significant development. Plus, hey, you get 20 for the price of 10, so no complaining now! As an aside, this list isn’t going to cover some other exciting-looking multiplayer games that are arriving in 2018, like Anthem, Sea of Thieves, The Crew 2, Monster Hunter … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: 20 upcoming MMOs to watch in 2018
