Can Ion Hazzikostas Make Azeroth Great Again? As I experienced BlizzCon 2016 via YouTube videos, one shining light at BlizzCon was Ion Hazzikostas who took the stage at the first WoW event of day. This was his first BlizzCon at the helm of WoW and he impressed me. For a D.C. lawyer that was the leader of the Elitist Jerks guild in WoW — they hosted a popular theory crafting website — he’s come a long way from being hired as a game designer. In his “World of Warcraft Legion: What’s Next?” speech he talked about MMOs in a way that nobody at Blizzard has ever talked about them before. … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft’s Diminishing Presence at BlizzCon 2016

One of the most interesting things about allied races is the way you unlock them. Up until now with every expansion the new races would simply be available to play when the expansion releases. However for BFA blizzard are mixing it up. Allied races unlocks are tied to the story. In order to unlock allied races you will have to complete some story line quests, earn certain achievements and reach exalted with some factions. For example in order to unlock the Void Elves, which are already available in Legion if you pre order BFA, you need to earn exalted status with the Argussian Reach faction and complete the story line campaign of Argus. … [Read more...] about 5 Reasons to get Hyped for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth
We have a big responsibility. That’s one of the awesome things about the game. I literally get a report every day where I can see how many people are playing the game, what areas and where they are in the game, what kind of activities are they taking on and so forth. It gives us a pretty good sense of when we roll out something new, where are people putting their time in. But all the data in the world isn’t as good as being part of that experience so that’s why I log in every day. I play and some people know I am at Blizzard, but the majority have no idea. There are people I’ve done dungeons with, quested with and they have no idea who I am. Even if I see someone in Trade Chat complaining about some aspect of the game, I’ll often whisper them, “Hey you know, tell me more about that because I’m thinking about checking that out too. Why don’t you like that?” I’ve gotten some of the best feedback that way. … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft: Meet Executive Producer John Hight
#2 Legion, Warlords of Draenor, Cataclysm (3.3m units sold) At second place for best selling World of Warcraft expansion within 24 hours is a tie between three. 2016’s Legion expansion introduced a brand new class, the Demon Hunter, and the narrative brought the Alliance and Horde together to the Broken Isles to stop the Burning Legion once and for all. While generally liked by many for introducing new systems, graphical upgrades and more, Legion still didn’t do enough to break away from the rest. … [Read more...] about Here Are The Top 5 Most Popular World of Warcraft Expansions 2019
#1 Battle for Azeroth (3.4m units sold) In case you missed it, yes Battle for Azeroth is a hit. The latest expansion which went live August 14 brought players to two new continents in Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Both the Horde and Alliance are back at it again, and it’s that classic tale of war that’s got players excited. What also helped sell the expansion is definitely the good use of marketing and social media campaigns. When combined together with the bold storytelling – Slyvannas, Warchief of the Horde, commits genocide at Darnassus – you definitely get more people both old and new, interested in the game to see where this goes. There’s also been a lot more World of Warcraft commercials this cycle. There have been numerous TV ads including good use of the YouTube platform to release those gorgeous cinematics that definitely does great for audience reach, and the total sales count shows. … [Read more...] about Top 5 World of Warcraft Expansions 2018 – Which Are The Bestselling WoW Expansions Of All Time?
